As a student, you've likely found yourself in this situation: you're walking to a lecture hall, your assignment is due in 10 minutes, and you suddenly realize you need a physical printout. In the past, this meant searching for an open computer lab, waiting in a long line, logging in, transferring your files, and digging around for exact change.

MIMO has changed all that by introducing smart, self-service printing kiosks across college campuses. You don't need to carry a laptop or look for cables; you can upload, pay, and print everything directly from your smartphone browser. In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through every step of how to use your mobile device to print documents, slides, and notes in under a minute.

Step 1: Access and Prepare Your Files on Your Phone

Before you head to the kiosk, make sure your document is saved or accessible on your phone. MIMO kiosks support a variety of popular formats, including:

If your assignment is in Google Drive, OneDrive, or Apple iCloud, open the respective app on your mobile device and export or download the file as a PDF to your local storage. This will make it much easier to select during the upload phase. PDF is always the safest format because it preserves your exact layout, fonts, and spacing — no matter which operating system the printer runs on.

Step 2: Upload Your File to printmimo.tech

Once your files are ready, you can upload them from anywhere on campus — whether you're sitting in the library, cafeteria, or walking to class.

  1. Open your mobile web browser (Safari, Chrome, or Firefox) and navigate to printmimo.tech.
  2. Log in or register with your email address. Registration is free and takes under 30 seconds.
  3. Tap the "Upload Files" button on the dashboard.
  4. Select the files you want to print from your local downloads folder, iCloud files, or file explorer. You can select multiple files at once.
  5. Wait for the upload progress bar to complete. The system will confirm the page count and file details.

Our mobile dashboard is designed to run directly in your browser without requiring you to download any native apps, saving you storage and setup time. The upload is encrypted via HTTPS, so your documents are protected from the moment they leave your phone.

Step 3: Customise Your Print Settings

After selecting your document, the MIMO interface will display the full details of your file including page count, file size, and estimated cost. Now you can customise your output options based on your requirements:

Once you've customised your settings, the dashboard computes your total cost dynamically in real time. There are no hidden setup fees, service charges, or minimum order amounts.

Step 4: Pay Securely via UPI or Card

Tap the "Proceed to Payment" button. You will be redirected to our secure payment gateway powered by Cashfree Payments. You can complete the transaction in seconds using any of the following methods:

After a successful transaction, the browser will instantly display your secure 4-digit print code. This code is also saved in your MIMO dashboard and remains valid for 24 hours. You can access it anytime by revisiting printmimo.tech and going to your print history.

The entire payment process is handled by Cashfree's PCI-DSS compliant gateway. MIMO never stores your card details or UPI credentials on our servers. Every transaction is encrypted end-to-end using TLS 1.3 encryption.

Step 5: Collect Your Printout at the Kiosk

Walk up to the nearest MIMO kiosk on campus. The kiosk touchscreen is always on and ready to accept codes.

  1. Locate the terminal's touch keypad on the kiosk screen.
  2. Enter your secure 4-digit print code on the keypad.
  3. The screen will show a confirmation of your print job details — file name, page count, and print settings.
  4. Tap "Confirm" and watch as the physical printer spools and ejects your pages in real-time.
  5. Collect your printout from the output tray.

If there's ever a hardware issue such as the printer running out of paper or a connectivity fault, the kiosk will report the problem immediately on both the kiosk screen and your phone. Our backend will trigger an automatic refund directly to your original payment method within 5-7 business days. You'll see a status message on your dashboard, ensuring you never pay for a failed print.
